Some people would be resistant to lifestyle changes like this despite its convenience. A congested city like Manila would do well to learn from this. Manila may not exactly be conducive for this level of change (pollution, heat, spoiled proletariats, bourgeoisie and elite) but if more people would trade off certain inconvenience (traffic time and car expense versus biking effort ), the traffic situation would greatly improve.
Personally I commute when I can, drive only when I must. Most people are surprised when they learn I commute as the local society expects the aristocracy to be tied to their chariots (cars). An electric bike purchase is in the works. Google innovatronix for more details.
