Philippine General Hospital - TradMed Dept.
Flash: The TradMed has moved to the former OPD area at the P.Faura exit. Still within the confines of PGH. It is located in the KLINIKA NG KALUSUGAN clinic. There are a few changes however. PGH management wants to turn it into pay ward with a very minimal fee starting at P150.00 whereas previously it has been working on donations. For the moment, it is still free. Contact is 5548400 Loc 5142 (as of Aug 16 2013)
Warning: The Family Medicine dept., under which the TradMed operates, has taken a less cooperative and less altruistic stance at charity as the administration under which it operates has less favor towards complementary medicine. The current policies have included a)limiting the number of patients to 15 only (there are easily 60 POOR patients a day,how will the patients know that they are among the top 15? some come from very far far away provinces). b) having a cut off time of 10am (more reasonable) c) Limiting the methodologies used to only the "approved" methodologies.
Without truth there is no health, without health there is no life. The "Traditional" and Integrative Medicine Clinic (TRADMED) is the only true charity clinic providing real health solutions to the general public within the confines of a public hospital. It combines different fields in medicine with focus on "complementary/alternative medicine" with different specialists in esoteric/energy medicine, Chinese med (TCM) et al.
The clinic has operated since 2002 (min.) and despite some temporary "closures" due to certain biases to the status quo, the clinic has always returned to fulfill its role in serving the general public and providing an avenue for research to its efficacy as compared to the conventional (western) treatment. In layman's terms, more than 80% of the time, our modalities are the better and more cost effective (usually free) solution for most disease with conventional medicine playing a support role in the medical intervention procedures.
The clinic couldn't possibly operate without the backing of its founder and staunchest philanthropist, Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan. Former head of The National Institute of Health et al..
Unlike regular medical institutions, members of the TRADMED provide a different perspective to its patients on the causes of health and disease. Being a charity institution also provides its members the liberty to share "trade secrets", with their patients to enable and empower them to manage their own health. A practice not encouraged by other professional practitioners.
